We strongly believe in making the world a better place through the
reduction of waste volumes, recycling materials into building blocks for
new products and finally applying the End-of-Life option by composting
into a good fertiliser for plants. We are dedicated to product
development, innovation to reduce carbon footprint in production, high

Our aim is to replace all fossil oil based products for foodservice and
food packaging by products made of 100 % biobased building blocks such
as PLA made from plants and bagasse made from sugarcane rests.
We work together with packaging designers, raw material suppliers,
selected production units, consumers, event – and festival organisers,
agriculture and horticulture organisations, public administration,
material recycling companies, composting facilities and waste
processors. Our combined efforts allow us to provide all stakeholders
with the best possible strategy to face their challenges.

BioOK is what happens when vision meets opportunity. The BioOK range of
25+ compostable products spans tableware, cutlery, biodegradable garbage
bags and takeaway packaging. Our vision is to provide sustainable food
packaging that is superior in quality and affordable in price.
We have been espousing and practicing the principles of Circular Economy
even before the phrase became popular. We believe material cycles are
closed by following the example of natural ecosystems, therefore toxic
substances are eliminated and there is no waste, because all residual
streams are valuable as resource. Ecoware is made from plant waste using
a process that releases only the following waste – liquid (water which
is reused in the production process), gas (water vapor released into the
atmosphere) and solid (excess plant waste recycled into the process). We
make biodegradable consumer products which return to earth once used and
are converted into compost in the presence of soil and microbes. The
compost is natural and can be used for improving crop yield.
PLA ( Poly Lactic Acid ) is a biobased and biodegradable thermoplastic ,
not made from traditional fossil fuels but based on lactic acid,
produced by fermentation of sugar or biomass like corn starch. It
degrades in natural environments leaving behind biomass, CO2 and water.
PLA meets the widely recognized European compostability standard
EN13432. PLA is not only made from renewable feedstocks, but it also
uses less non-renewable energy in production than oil based plastics. A
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for a typical fossil oil based plastic reveals
CO2 emissions many times higher than those for PLA. There are several
end-of-life options available on the market like mechanical recycling,
chemical recycling or composting.
Sugarcane is a non-food renewable resource, yielding new harvests
annually. Bagasse is the name for the plant fiber that remains after
sugar producers process the sugarcane stalk. Historically, bagasse waste
has been burned in the fields, and thereby creating pollution. Now,
bagasse is used to manufacture eco friendly food service products
replacing traditional paper. It can be used with hot and cold foods.
Bagasse items are microwave and refrigerator safe.
It is certified compostable and biodegradable. Sugarcane products
normally biodegrade within 90 days. The rate of decomposition depends on
the composting conditions – the temperature, turnover rate, moisture
etc. Generally, they will biodegrade much faster, if they are broken
into smaller pieces. So, bagasse products are an environmentally
sustainable solution for food service and packaging disposables.
